There is no trade or investment that advances if there is no effective participation of the banking system, Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas told the press, evaluating the presence here for the first time of a subsidiary of the important Russian entity.

Under the effects of unilateral coercive measures, both Cuba and Russia need to find ways to strengthen their commercial ties and the installation of the bank in Havana represents a milestone in one of the most important areas to develop any type of economic and financial relationship, he reasoned.

The banking and financial system, he recalled, is one of the spheres most harassed by the policy of the United States Government in its efforts to suffocate the Cuban economy.

According to the president of the Board of Directors of Novikom, Elena Georgieva, the opening of the branch is not only a new stage for the bank, but also an important step in Russian-Cuban relations.

Through a statement, the official assured that Novikom’s experience in effective banking services for high-tech companies will be useful to finance promising Russian projects and guarantee transactions between both countries, which will facilitate business interaction in sectors such as tourism, transportation, air navigation. , energy and more.

Representatives of the two States also spoke this week about a financial support mechanism for the industrial branch, recently approved by the members of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Yesterday the IV Cubaindustria International Convention and Fair ended in Havana, which served as a platform for the signing of 43 legal instruments, including contracts and letters of intent, related to new investments and alliances for industrial integration and complementation.

In the opinion of Vice Minister of Industries Ernesto Cedeño, the convention had a high scientific level in various topics; namely, refrigeration, air conditioning and renewable energy, metalworking, quality management, environmental protection and industrial maintenance.

Likewise, he distinguished the international course taught by experts from the World Packaging Organization and the presentation of the Sustainable Development Goal No. 9 Accelerator platform by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

Another relevant fact, he indicated, was the signing of agreements to strengthen science and innovation management between the Villa Clara Scientific and Technological Park and the Havana Scientific and Technological Park and the University of Havana.

The representative of the Industries portfolio also appreciated the holding of an online seminar on industrial cooperation within the scope of the Eurasian Economic Union.
