Details of the murder of music producer Daniel Alejandro Velásquez Franco, known as Dr. Velásquez, and his girlfriend Astrid Sofía Riascos, allegedly at the hands of Julián Alberto Quintero, butler of his estate located in Envigado, continue to be known. The double homicide, which occurred on June 8 in the early morning, continues its course before justice and it is in the judicialization hearings where new data has been given.
The murders were committed in the middle of a night of drinking, after a meeting with friends of the producer, where the alleged murderer stayed all night, contrary to what was usual, according to the victims’ lawyer. It should be remembered that in a statement to the Prosecutor’s Office, Quintero confessed that he acted under the influence of alcohol and anger, triggered by the fact that Velásquez had told him that his mother, Blanca Agudelo, could not continue living in the house due to his hostile treatment towards the producer’s new partner.
Well now, During the hearings, details have been revealed that do not rule out the possibility that there are other people involved in the homicides. For example, the defense of the alleged murderer focused on the loss of some high-end watches, which according to his representatives, “gives rise to determining another alleged motive.”
But one of the most striking data is that they revealed that the victim received extortion calls and indicated that in other interviews they point to alleged conflicts that the music producer would have with a renowned Paisa singer.

“For me it was a surprise regarding the threats, I can only tell him that last year, like in February or March, there were some strange calls, that he could never find out what they were from. On the other hand, in terms of representation contracts such as administration and manager, last year some contracts were closed, some of them without problems, only the management contract of (a renowned artist) was the one with the greatest problem, what’s more, that young man never showed up in the office,” was the story of Javier Darío Martínez Carrillo, who worked for the producer.
As revealed by Semana, it was also learned that, apparently, Dr. Velásquez had ordered a sign to be made in which he indicated the name of the person he supposedly believed was going to kill him, according to what one of the producer’s most loyal workers told the Prosecutor’s Office. Besides, In that message he would also have noted strong arguments that he had in the past with a woman, apparently due to financial issues, but which would have already been resolved at the time of the homicides.
Another of the known testimonies was that of Juliana Muñoz, Velásquez’s ex-wife and niece of the butler who confessed that he had shot. The woman said that Dr. Velásquez had the problem with another artist. “As for the threats, I know that he had a problem with (name withheld), I don’t know the details, I don’t know why he always kept me out of these office things, but the manager (of the artist) wrote to me and told me He asked where I was living. That seemed very curious to me because I had never spoken to him since I broke off relations (with Velásquez) in fact before he broke up relations he didn’t call me either” said the woman.
“The little I know is that that singer threatened to kill him. Apparently, for money reasons. Daniel had to sign something for someone else to take it,” commented Julián Alberto Quintero Agudelo, his trusted man and today arrested for the double crime.
Some of these testimonies have been delivered before the judge by the butler’s lawyer, who is currently in a prison while the investigations continue to progress.
