What day does the course start and how many holidays and long weekends will there be?

First day of school holidays in La Rioja. Eleven weeks of vacation ahead until the next course starts. When does it start? What are the holidays and long weekends that will be enjoyed in the 2024-2025 academic year in La Rioja? When will there be holidays in educational centers? What will Holy Week be like? The school calendar reveals all the unknowns.

The start of classes is generally marked on September 9 and the end of the course on June 23 (except ESDIR, which ends on the 27th). The main novelty for the next academic year is the Easter holidays, which are once again a full week of holidays, as occurred in the 2022-2023 academic year, instead of Easter week, which is usually a holiday in La Rioja.

In addition to the general course start dates, Adult Education will start the course on June 16; while the students of the Official Language School, the centers that provide sports education in a special regime and the Distance Vocational Training will begin classes on October 1.

During the next academic year, the Christmas school holidays will be from December 23 to January 6, both included; while those of Holy Week will take place between April 14 and 21, both included. The change in the Easter holidays is due to the fact that it is celebrated in 2025 at the end of April, so in order not to make an excessively long term, April 14, 15 and 16 are established as non-school days, which are They will be added to the days of the festival. In addition, a small “pedagogical break” is introduced on Friday, February 28, which coincides with Educational Community Day, and on Monday, March 3.

The rest of the school festivities included in the school calendar for the next 2024/2025 academic year are Friday, November 1 (All Saints’ Day), Friday, December 6 (Constitution Day), Thursday, May 1 (Labor Holiday) , which joins Friday, May 2, and Monday, June 9 (La Rioja Day). To these days we must add another seven of a local nature: two established as holidays in the work calendar of each municipality and another five decided by each Municipal School Council.

The published School Calendar is the consensual result of the analysis of the different proposals collected from the different agents of the Educational Community. Specifically, City Councils (10), Parents’ Associations (AMPA, CONCAPA), unions (9), La Rioja School Council and educational centers (Schools, Institutes, Conservatories, Official Language School, CEPA, etc.) have been consulted. ESDIR).
