Nearly two months have passed since the commander of the Cúcuta Metropolitan Police announced his intervention in La Parada, seeking to reduce violence rates in this neighborhood of Villa del Rosario. In dialogue with Caracol Radio, Colonel William Quintero assured that, although the presence of criminal and transnational gangs is still notoriousit has managed to reduce rates such as violent deaths and other crimes.

“We have had the police there for more than a month and a half and we have not removed them. That is a hotbed of crime.” highlighted the commander of the Metropolitan police.

The officer was emphatic in highlighting that “we have to look at everything that continues to move from there, delinquent and criminal activities where these criminals meet to plan. robberies, kidnappings, drug trafficking, weapons trafficking and that is why this sector has to continue to be intervened by the police and it is the decision of the Metropolitan to continue with the service in that place, in order to contain this from continuing to cause damage not only in Villa del Rosario but in the entire Area. And regarding the criminal organizations that have a presence in this place, Colonel Quintero highlighted that “The Aragua Train is still present there, those same AK47s and different structures”.

He argued that recovering La Parada is not a job that can be achieved overnightbut that by working with all the institutions, it will be possible to achieve it soon.
