The national police deployed a large police force to guarantee the security of events scheduled within the framework of the 50th Colombian Folk Festival, with more than 600 uniformed personnel from the different specialties of the Police service.
These prevention activities closed on Sunday, June 23, with the following figures.
There has been a 72% decrease in crimes compared to 2023, highlighting a -75% reduction in homicides, -63% in personal injuries and -77% in theft from people.
Total arrests: 54 for different crimes such as (violation of another’s room, reception, theft, personal injuries, drug trafficking, violence against a public servant, domestic violence, homicide, aggravated criminal conspiracy, prisoner escape, sexual acts with a minor 14 years).
Seizure of 3,859 grams of marijuana, 30 grams of tusi, 120 sharp weapons and a traumatic weapon. The recovery of 2 vehicles and 2 stolen motorcycles was also achieved.
Regarding the single emergency line 123, 4,099 calls were received, of which 101 were for fights and 34 for cases of domestic violence.
A total of 310 summons orders were imposed, of which 218 were for sharp weapons, 10 for seizure of mobile equipment with a report of theft, 16 for fights and the temporary suspension of the economic activity of 2 public establishments.
Likewise, the National Police provided security and accompaniment to more than 30 activities of the 50th Colombian Folk Festival, including:
Parade of educational institutions and folklore exhibition, Launch of the 50th version of the Colombian Folklore Festival, Tapa Roja Liquor Day events, Sombrero and Pijao de Oro Orchestra Festival, Tablado in Canchas del Danubio and Parque del Salado, Night of fantasy of the Municipal Folklore Meeting, the great parade of San Juan, among others.
These activities were coordinated and executed by the National Police to guarantee success and tranquility during the development of the festival.
