The professional soldier Fabián Wilfrido Melo Coquinche was kidnapped this Monday morning when he was sailing – along with his wife and daughter – through the Caquetá River. The family was left released after several hours of detention.

The kidnapping of the uniformed man was recorded in the jurisdiction of the municipality of Solano (Caquetá) when he was sailing on a commercial vessel. At the moment, the Public Force has deployed an operation to try to find the whereabouts of the soldier, the woman and the girl who were also kidnapped.

The uniformed man’s family received a call this Monday afternoon in which they were told that Fabián, his wife and his daughter had been released. The Public Force verified the information.

“The General Command of the Military Forces confirms that Professional Soldier Fabián Wilfrido Melo Coquinche, his wife and daughter are now free and At this time they remain at the military base of La Tagua, Putumayo“, confirmed the official force in a statement around 2:40 p.m. this Monday.

Soldier Melo Coquinche had just received his professional accreditation. Therefore, he had compensatory leave to spend time with his family. He was on a commercial vessel when the abduction took place.
