The Team of the Command of the Civil Guard of Córdoba, has dismantled a criminal group composed of two people allegedly dedicated to the realization of technology scams through the identity theft of its victims to contract fixed and mobile telephone and Internet lines for subsequent sale on second-hand websites. The members of the group operated from Cordova.

According to a note from the Civil Guard, the investigations began last January, after receiving a complaint for alleged usurpation of a person’s identity and the subsequent use of their data in contracting loans and telephone lines, with the injured parties receiving claims for debts generated.

In the initial phase of the investigation, the alleged perpetrators were identified, a man and a woman, who made constant changes of address as a security measure.

Once the alleged perpetrators were located, a device was established for their arrest, which was carried out recently, with the Civil Guard proceeding to their arrest as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of usurpation of civil status and fraud.

The development of the investigation has made it possible to clarify a total of nine crimes, five of them of usurpation of civil status and another four of fraud, the operation remains open, so new actions are not ruled out.

On behalf of the Córdoba @ Team, A series of guidelines are recommended in relation to the processing of personal data:

– Never share personal or banking information with strangers over the Internet.

– If it is necessary to transfer personal data to third parties, ensure the identity of the recipient and their processing.

The Civil Guard recommends that if you have suffered this type of crime, you file a formal complaint in person or through the official Civil Guard website.
