The PSOE has today charged against the popular consultation that the mayor of Cordova wants to call to decide if the people of Cordoba would allow the booths of the May FairThey remain permanently all year round in El Arenal or continue to be removable as before. He has also charged against the Festival delegate, Julián Urbano, of whom they say “is not up to the task”. The socialist councilor Alicia Moya considers that it is “a trap consultation” that José María Bellido calls as an “occurrence” due to the lack of management of his government team. “This consultation is smoke so that the Córdoba City Council does not have to make decisions about how to improve the events in Córdoba,” said the mayor.

And, in the opinion of the socialists, this consultation is proposed as a solution to an issue that the PP does not know how to resolve and leaves many questions opens: from the problems that may be caused by the fact that the fairgrounds will be occupied all year round with permanent booths in terms of parking or in relation to the activities that are normally held in El Arenal; going through the number of participants that would be considered appropriate to understand that the result of the consultation is legitimate and representative, or by the formulation of the question. What’s more, the socialists even doubt the ability of the government team to organize the consultation itself. “The PP is an expert in pretending to do something to do nothing,” said the councilor who recalled, as the PSOE did last week, that a participatory process was already carried out around the Fair Commission that issued a ruling on the future of the fairgrounds.

Criticisms about the delegate

Moya has also criticized “the inability” of the Festival delegate, Julián Urbano, a signing that the mayor made in the last municipal elections and that the socialists have recalled that he was provincial coordinator of Vox before returning to the PP. The councilor has not spared qualifiers about Urbano, whom she calls a “fiasco” because “he is not up to par with the city”, he is characterized by “his lack of judgment and clumsiness in his decisions” for which the mayor “has had to come out in front of their blunders.

Among other issues, the PSOE has recalled the role played by the Festival delegate in the crosses, downplaying the agglomeration of people in the Santa Marina or Bailío venues or in his reaction after the suspension of the Montilla-Moriles Wine Tasting . Now, the socialists frame the call for a popular consultation as the mayor’s reaction to “the inaction” of his delegate.
