The provincial government, through the implementation of the Provincial Student Card, allocates funds so that students from the interior of the province receive this benefit. According to a report provided by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (AMT), the executing body of the system, in 2021 the beneficiaries were 13,987 and this year it rose to more than 21,000.

The system made it possible to shorten the distances when students renew or request the benefit. Students can, individually or through the representatives of their municipalities, carry out all the necessary procedures to access the benefit.

The increase in students with this benefit, which was recorded by 50% more, was a product not only of the digitalization of the procedure, but also of the new methodology implemented this year, called TEP (Provincial Student Card).

Until mid-2023, the benefit was used through paper tickets/subscriptions and a digital card that they had to print in order to collect the tickets in their municipalities. It should be noted that the subscriptions were delivered to the municipalities by the companies and the communes gave them to the students.

The AMT holder, Marcelo Ferraris He expressed that “the process of implementing an egalitarian system with the interior has been taking place since 2019 at the request of the governor. Gustavo Saenz”. Furthermore, he said that “before the procedure was very bureaucratic, with the need to wait in long lines, and at that time the decision was made to equate the Salta system with that of the interior. From there we began the process that allowed the province to bring the different municipalities closer.”
