The teachers of Córdoba, grouped in UEPC and Sadop, carried out this Tuesday a unemployment of 24 hours in demand of a new salary proposal.
The teachers marched from different points in the center, gathered in Colón and General Paz and left for the government house, but they did not manage to arrive, since the police mounted a strict security operation to prevent this from happening.
They had to settle for staying on Olmos Street, where they read a document with salary demands.
How was compliance?
Compliance was mixed. However, Franco Boczkowski, head of UEPC Capital, said that today they completed “a day of teacher strike throughout the province”, as a “unanimous rejection” of the government’s salary proposal, which “consolidates the salary loss since the end of last year and does not contemplate the recovery of what was lost”.
“The strike is forceful and with mobilization,” he added.

For his part, Roberto Cristalli, head of UEPC, assured that compliance was “80% throughout the province.” And he described the march as “massive, even though teachers could not arrive because the Alta Cumbres road and the Cuadrado road were closed.”
“We are going to tell Governor Llaryora that if his salary proposal is to keep teachers at the levels of indigence and generalized poverty in which they are today, the solution will be to deepen the fight plan,” said Boczkowski.
In that sense, new assemblies are not ruled out for next week in order to define the steps to follow.
Boczkowski stressed that teachers seek to recover the salary loss suffered since September of last year due to the government’s failure to comply with the previous salary agreement and the new discounts incorporated into the salary.
