Five people including a woman, who apparently belong to a common organized criminal group that is dedicated to micro-trafficking in the south of La Guajira, were captured by uniformed members of the National Police.
The captures were carried out in an operation aimed at countering the local drug traffickingin different judicial proceedings from the southern town of Barrancas, such as on Calle 9 with Carrera 14, Calle 19 with Carrera 12ª, Carrera 6 with Calle 19 and the Villa Estadio invasion.
With the arrests by Baldomero Ramírez Medina, Nancy Rangel Del Villar, Luis Pérez Pérez, Luis Omar Vargas Guerrero and José Agustín Ojeda Britowho were requested by the Second Municipal Criminal Court with Guarantee Control Functions Bacrim of Riohacha for the crime of trafficking, manufacturing and carrying narcotics, the authorities indicated that they have managed to dismantle the common organized criminal group “Those of Twelve.”
The alleged members of the criminal gang were dedicated to microtraffic in the municipality of Barrancas, and the authorities estimate that they sold more than 500 doses of narcotic substances per day, generating higher criminal income at 5 million.
The detained persons have been placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, where they will face the corresponding charges. The National Police appreciates the collaboration of citizens and reiterates its commitment to continue working tirelessly to guarantee a safe and drug-free environment for all the inhabitants of La Guajira.

Vicente Berardinellimayor of Barrancas, who indicated “From the administration we are leading with the National Police, Sipol and Gaula the eradication of the microtrafficking pots that are perverting the youth in the municipality and we are not going to tolerate that. For this reason, we ask the community to report it by going to the Police station, because we have to work together for the well-being of the canyoners.”
