Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo says they hope to receive a donation of 40 million dollars for the La Guajira hospital in July

Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo referred to the donation of 40 million dollars for the Riohacha hospital from Paraguachón by the Arabs, which would be delivered in the coming weeks. “We have a donation of 40 million dollars for the Riohacha hospital from the government of the United Arab Emirates, which we hope to formalize and receive the resources by July, next month,” announced the chancellor from Paraguachón, La Guajira.

The minister also referred to recreational houses that have been built and financed by the Foreign Ministry. In this regard, he announced an additional investment so that minors have a suitable place to receive their education.

The chancellor assured that they will work on a binational border support center with the government of Venezuela for border issues, among them, one that would be in Paraguachón, with the support of the Government of La Guajira.

Murillo said that he also wants to advance a strategy with local leaders and support from outside the country. “At the Foreign Ministry we are adapting our institutional framework and we are going to have a traveling ambassador specifically dedicated to to connect the regions with international management and to be able to attract resources to these regions and also offer, Colombia has a lot to offer,” he noted.

On the other hand, he referred to the border crossings and the relationship with Venezuela. “We are going to create working groups in Maicao and the department of La Guajira to discuss issues within the framework of the Integrity Commission with Venezuela. We are accompanied by representation from the Government of Venezuela,” said Murillo, who pointed out that this alliance would end with a meeting of the foreign ministers of both countries.

Regarding the high migratory flow that is registered in Paraguachón, Murillo said that there are some Government centers that offer integration to society so that they are regulated in Colombia, although there are people who are only transiting.

The chancellor assured that he is looking for more resources to give visibility to Maicao, especially due to the border relationship it has with Venezuela. “We see that it is a living border that sometimes goes unnoticed or invisible in the context of the national discussion about resources,” he said.

Murillo affirmed that a way is being sought for Venezuela to return to the Andean community. Likewise, he acknowledged that there has been talk of the possibility of a single passport so that Latinos can move freely throughout the territory.

“That we can have that axis where people can move with the identity documents of their countries,” said the chancellor. although he acknowledged that for now it is just a proposal.
