The Cultural Center of the National University of Córdoba (Duarte Quirós 107) will be the scene this week of cultural events that combine music, history and poetry.

Highlights include a tribute to Sumo this Wednesday as part of the “Alta Fidelidad” cycle and an electronic music jam in the “Viernes de Ruinas” proposal. Both activities are free of charge.

The Undersecretary of Culture of the National University of Córdoba, Juan Pablo Duarte, highlighted that the proposals arise “with the idea of positioning the UNC Cultural Center outside of what is the logic of a museum.” “Although it has a museum and a heritage space in which the public is always interested and approaches the place, the idea is that expressions of contemporary culture, such as rock or electronic music, also take place there,” he explained to Chain 3.

“High Fidelity” is the new cultural cycle of the UNC, which will have its presentation this Wednesday at 5 p.m. with a tribute to Luca Prodan and the band “Sumo.” The event consists of two parts: the screening of the documentary “Fuck You, the Último Show”, with the presence of its director, and at 7 p.m. a “listening party” will begin reviewing the group’s greatest hits with the presence of artists from Córdoba. .

Duarte considered that “this guided listening or ‘Listening Party’, at this moment is presented as a somewhat countercultural idea. “We are much more accustomed to listening to bands in bits and pieces, perhaps by hits, and this type of event invites to get a little bit into the world and into the context of different works, so we hope to achieve that in relation to the audience.”

Already entering the weekend, “Friday of Ruins” proposes an activity that mixes electronic music with poetry and books on the esplanade of the UNC Cultural Center. “The cycle began in 2023 as a set of electronic music with visuals. And this year we decided to take advantage of the large audience that each of the meetings has to support an emerging creative industry in Córdoba or a group of artists or researchers who are linked to culture,” commented Duarte.

This Friday’s activity is titled “Dystopia in Ruins”, with the participation of the “Dystopia” Cultural Project. The UNC Undersecretary of Culture explained that “the group that will be participating researches the term dystopia and articulates it to poetry, scientific production and visual art. So, from 5 p.m. we are going to have a whole series of activities that have to do with this, with the production of this group. And starting at 8 p.m., an electronic music set by the Batimento duo will begin.
