The recent extra long weekend in Rosario was a success in terms of tourism, with hotel occupancy that reached 65% on average and categories that registered between 70 and 80%. The city experienced days of intense activity and influx of visitors, with the outstanding celebration for Flag Day on Thursday, June 20, which brought together some 170 thousand people.

The numbers speak for themselves. The total economic impact of the extra long weekend was estimated at $1.5 billion. And if the income from the previous weekend is added, with the June 17 holiday, the total amount exceeds $2.2 billion.

“We believe that this June 20 has been a turning point,” said the Secretary of Sports and Tourism, Alejandra Mattheus, and maintained that “Rosario offered a large number of activities, both for the enjoyment of Rosario residents and its visitors.” In that sense, she highlighted the tenth edition of Pedestrian Night, which took place on Saturday the 15th in advance of Father’s Day; the Pledges of Allegiance to the Flag for fourth graders from all over the country; the protocol event on June 20, and the popular festival in the Flag National Park with live music, pastry, empanada and taca grill competitions, and fairs, among other proposals.

“We are convinced that this is the path and that despite the economic context that Argentina is experiencing, Rosario is regaining confidence and tourism in the city is beginning to be reactivated, which for us is very important, because tourism is a very important economic activity that energizes the local economy,” said the municipal official.

And he added: “We know that every tourist who comes to the city, whether for the day or whether they spend the night in the city, invests in gastronomy, in retail businesses, in hotels and that is income that reaches the city and for us It’s very important”.

According to data provided by the Rosario Tourist Entity (ETUR), the city received tourists mainly from Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Córdoba and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, with a very high volume of hikers who came during the day to live the city in the last two days.

It should be noted that, according to a measurement of the tourist experience through contact with guests in different hotels, 90% of those surveyed indicated that they felt safe during their stay in Rosario.

Furthermore, 99% of visitors rated their experience in the city as positive, describing it as “excellent,” “very good” or “good.” And 99% also expressed their intention to visit the city again.

“Starting in March, we proposed to change the strategy and work very hard and very closely together with the private sector and also with the Provincial Tourism Secretariat, but we have also received the support of the Provincial Tourism, Sports and Environment Secretariat. Nation, which clearly shows that when you work at the 3 levels of the State and when you work together with the private sector, you see the results,” Mattheus said.
