In the framework of the World Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking and under the slogan “People first, enough of stigmatization and discrimination, let’s reinforce prevention”, the General Directorate of Mental Health and Addictions dependent on the Ministry of Health; and the Team for the Prevention of Problematic Consumption of the Undersecretariat of Sports that is part of the Ministry of Education, carried out allusive activities in the Plaza Urquiza of the Capital.
On the occasion, the Minister of Health, Luis Medina Ruiz; and the secretary and undersecretary of Sports, Diego Erroz and Maximiliano Germanthey toured information stands with proposals for awareness and reflection.
It should be noted that, days ago, the Ministry of Education launched a Interministerial Working Group on the Comprehensive Approach to Addictionsin order to address the problem through comprehensive actions.
During the tour, the minister Luis Medina Ruiz, expressed: “One sees here so many reasons to be alive, healthy, to be happy, a sunny day like today with so many activities. We have all our institutions present doing all the activities to avoid this path of addictions. The entrance door to the drug is very large, a gate, and the exit is very small, very difficult, uphill. Drugs are all bad, there is no such thing that I can try and nothing happens, we have to say no, from the beginning to all offers, we have to know that it is brave to say no. Today is a day to talk about this, we should use it every day, at every table in our homes, in workplaces, with colleagues, at school we should talk about this.”
To its turn, Florence Kerstens, from the Problematic Consumption Prevention Team of the Ministry of Education, summarized: “We are convinced that the school and the classroom are privileged places to be able to work on the prevention and promotion of problematic consumption, care among peers and bonds. The school plays an important role and function, since it has significant adults for young people, teachers and management teams. Here we are from the Ministry of Education, from the Undersecretary of Sports, we have sports activities and recreational and pedagogical proposals to work on all issues related to problematic consumption, we believe that it is an issue that is very established in our society and young people. and it is very important to be able to prepare and take care of them.”
