Authorities from the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) of Cuba are looking for new markets to increase the arrival of international visitors and meet – at all costs – this year’s estimated goal of exceeding the figure of three million.

In a note published by official media, Mintur officials stated that they have identified non-traditional markets in different regions of the world, among which Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East stand out, where results are already perceived and it is estimated, in the short and medium terms, tourist issuance volumes higher than current ones.

The government continues to exploit new alternatives to make tourism more feasible and get rid of the term sun and beach that characterizes the Island, given the difficulties in promoting other resources.

This time they promote products linked to nautical, nature, educational and youth tourism, cultural tourism, families, circuits and health; all of this enhanced nations such as Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Argentina and Brazil.
Other actions are focused on expanding ties with online travel agencies in order to diversify distribution channels and respond to new traveler demands.

Until May, Cuba received 1,174,888 international visitors with Canada, the Cuban community abroad, the United States, the Russian Federation and England as the main senders to the country, according to statistical reports.

In general, arrivals represent an increase of 3% with Russia as the country with the highest growth among all nations, estimating that it may even exceed the figure of 200,000 over the record of 185,000 in 2023.
