Promote knowledge and international exchange of experiences related to water resources and renewable energies applied to the adaptation and mitigation of climate change with sustainability strategies.’ This is the name of the project designed by the instructors María Fernanda Folleco and Santiago Tabares from the Center for Coffee Training of the Caldas regional of the National Learning Service (Sena).

It is the result of joint work with East Carolina University in the United States. It won among more than 60 proposals presented in the call ‘100k Strong in the Americas‘ an innovation fund created by the government of that country that stimulates key alliances between higher education institutions aimed at promoting the exchange of knowledge.

The initiative Colombian-American has An objective: that students and teachers can expand your academic knowledge and experiences and identify new options for personal and professional growth in climate change. Also strengthen educational networks, cultural exchange and strengthening a second language in both countries.

“It has a deadline of execution until 2025, which consists of the exchange of students from North America who will visit our country and students and instructors from the Sena regional Caldas who will visit the United States. to take ownership of management issues in “water resources and renewable energies”said Tabares.

Recognition

Last Friday, June 21, the U.S. Embassy carried out the award ceremony that contemplates an estimated financing between 27 thousand and 50 thousand dollars for each of the 16 new winning programs, among which those presented by other higher education institutions in Colombia stand out.

María Fernanda Folleco commented that They seek to train at least two students from East Carolina University and their professors. “They will also train us in renewable energies. There will be virtual training of about 120 hours and the practices will be carried out in both the United States and Colombia, for 10 dayshe noted.
