MIAMI, Florida – The United States Embassy in Havana has announced a new service aimed at benefiting immigrant visa applicants, especially those who immigrate through a family claim. This service will allow applicants to submit their documentation for review before the official interview, with the aim of avoiding delays in the process.

South Florida immigration attorney Ángel Leal explained in an interview that this service is a great benefit for those seeking to immigrate to the United States. “Generally, people who are going to immigrate through a family claim must bring certain documentation to the interview. Now, the consulate staff will review these documents in advance to ensure that everything is in order,” Leal said.

Interested parties must appear at the embassy three days before their scheduled interview. This appointment can be coordinated directly at the Calzada and K park, or through email by sending a message to [email protected] with the subject “A88 – Document Review.”

This service is offered to prevent cases from entering what is called an “administrative process” due to missing, expired or expired documents. “What they are trying to avoid is that people arrive at the interview and are missing some crucial document, which could delay the visa process for several months,” Leal explained.

Leal also noted that obtaining documentation in Cuba, such as birth certificates, divorce decrees or marriage certificates, can be a complicated and time-consuming process due to the limited resources available on the island. “In Cuba, obtaining these documents can take longer than in other places. Additionally, these documents sometimes expire before they can be used,” she said.
