Colombia and Costa Rica will meet this Friday at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale in search of a victory that will allow them, in the case of the tricolor, to advance to the quarterfinals, and for the Ticos, to get closer to the group of the eight best in the America’s Cup.
This will be the match that will open the second day of Group D at 5:00 pm and with Gol Caracol broadcasting, because that same day, but at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Paraguay and Brazil will play at 8:00 pm
Colombia started the tournament on the right foot by beating Paraguay 2-1, while Costa Rica surprised everyone with a goalless draw against Brazil.
In the 2024 Copa América, the Colombian team leads zone D with 3 points, followed by Brazil and Costa Rica, both with one, while Paraguay is bottom without points.
Change in ownership
Despite the victory against Paraguay, Colombia would have lost an important player: center back John Lucumí, who suffered a muscle injury in his left leg and is a doubt for the duel against the Ticos.
Between Yerry Mina, who replaced him against the Paraguayans, with a poor performance, and Carlos Cuesta the new center back would come out to face Costa Rica.
But as long as James’ left foot is connected to the mischief and speed of Díaz, Liverpool star, and the rest of the team that started against Paraguay, Colombia promises to cause problems at the State Farm Stadium, with a capacity for 63,400 spectators, which has air conditioning to cope with the high temperatures of Arizona.
