The investigation is being carried out by the Third Shift Prosecutor’s Office, directed by prosecutor Carlos Cornejo, who revealed that the leaders of an important organization with branches in Villa del Rosario, Nueva Esperanza and Villa Urquiza they would be detained in the prison and would continue directing operations from there.

The investigation points to four people already convicted of drug trafficking as the “ringleaders” of this operation: two of Peruvian origin and two from Villa del Rosario. These people had set up a true “SME” to bring in drugs and sell them among prisoners from their place of confinement in the high-security MX1 module.

The method used to introduce the drug was through women who visited the inmates. Some even presented false pregnancy certificates to avoid going through the scanner and thus be able to introduce the hidden drug.

Furthermore, one of the accused opened a virtual wallet from a cell phone in his cell to collect sales made inside the prison. The consumers asked their relatives to transfer money to the relatives of the ringleaders to pay for the purchased drugs.

During the operation, 25 cells inhabited by 75 inmates were raided.
