The six criminals were granted intramural measures in a prison by a judge of guarantees.
The Automotive Group of the Criminal Investigation Section with the support of the Police Intelligence Directorate, in a three-month investigative work, was a forceful blow against the organized common crime group, called ‘Los Toyoteros’, dedicated to stealing high-end vehicles in the south and west of the city. They are believed to have participated in more than 22 thefts.

“In three months of investigation, since the first incident occurred by these criminals, we followed up and analyzed all the information and evidence so that today they are here captured and under preventive measures. There is a great responsibility to not feed these criminal structures” said César Restrepo, district security secretary.
These people were waiting for the exact moment that citizens would enter their vehicles into the garages of their homes, late at night, to surprise them violently, stripping them of their belongings and stealing their vehicles.
Previous work by the Judicial Police, such as telephone interceptions, sworn statements, judicial inspections, photographic reconnaissances, video analysis and interviews, made it possible to identify the modus operandi of this criminal group that had been affecting citizens in the towns of Kennedy, Barrios Unidos, Engativá and Aranda Bridge.
After six raids and searches in the towns of Usme, Kennedy and Barrios Unidos, six people were captured by court order and a pistol-type compressed air weapon, a supplier, 15 9-millimeter cartridges, two telephones were seized. cell phones and a ballistic vest, in addition to the immobilization of a vehicle that was used to commit the thefts.
Four of the members of the criminal group were members of the same family; Once they committed the thefts from the automobiles, they were used to commit the following thefts. and thus minimize the chances of being identified and captured.
With the dismantling of this criminal structure, it is possible to affect the criminal income resulting from the illegal sale of auto parts for high-end vehicles, by at least five billion pesos.
It is important to highlight that, Those captured today have records in the Oral Accusatory Penal System (SPOA)for the crimes of qualified and aggravated theft, trafficking, manufacturing or carrying of narcotics, domestic violence, damage to another’s property, personal injury, use of minors in the commission of crimes, escape of prisoners, receiving, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition, aggravated extortionate kidnapping and threats.
