With the aim of reducing the negative impacts on the environment caused by electronic devices, this Friday, June 28, Torre Universal will be collecting this type of devices that are no longer used or no longer work.

This is an opportunity for all those people who, generally, do not know where to go to deposit these devices that have lost their useful life. Monitors, screens, household appliances, audio equipment, video cameras, electronic games, power tools, modems, data phones, printers, lights, hair dryers, hair straighteners, razors and more, are waste that require special handling.

“It is essential that waste from electrical and electronic devices be better disposed of, with the common objective of minimizing contamination of soils and water sources, improving the health of living beings and promoting the development of sustainable cities. This is achieved through educational processes, and the commitment of citizens,” expressed the Torre Universal project director, Diana Villarreal.

According to data from the United Nations, on average, each person on the planet produces 7.6 kilograms (kg) of electrical and electronic waste per year, and very little of it is managed correctly, while in Costa Rica we double the world average with 13.1 kg.

Interested persons may leave their waste at the designated post in front of Banco Promerica, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
