A 22-year-old man, identified as Juan Carlos Kawecki, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for aggravated robbery, attempted simple robbery and illegal possession of a military firearm. The sentence was imposed by Judge Celeste Minniti in the context of a summary trial that took place in the courts of the provincial capital.

The incident for which Kawecki was convicted occurred on Saturday, May 4 of this year, minutes before 2:00 in the morning. According to the investigation by prosecutor Arturo Haidar, the convicted man acted together with two other men who were already convicted in abbreviated trials -Jonatan David Romero and Santiago Rubén Fiamaca- to rob a home located in Gobernador Crespo at 3,000.

The three individuals broke the lock and one of the glass panels of the entrance gate to the garage of the house, where a 94-year-old woman lives. Once inside, they stole four rolls of cable, each 100 metres long, two infrared sensors and an “L” type wrench, belonging to the nonagenarian’s son.

Although the criminals quickly left the house, they were surprised near Hipólito Irigoyen and San Lorenzo by agents of the Radioelectric Command who had been alerted of what had happened through 911. After a brief chase, Kawecki, Romero and Fiamaca were arrested.

During the escape, the criminals threw two bags containing the stolen objects, which could be recovered by the victims.

In addition to the aggravated robbery, Kawecki was also convicted of a simple robbery attempt that occurred on another occasion, in a car parked in the Falucho passage at 4,200 in the city of Santa Fe. In this case, he did not achieve his goal because the criminal conduct was warned by the owner of the vehicle.

Finally, the convicted man was also punished for the illegitimate possession of a .38 caliber revolver that he carried without legal authorization in the city of Santa Fe. The weapon was capable of firing shots and was loaded with six intact cartridges.

At the abbreviated trial hearing, Kawecki admitted his criminal responsibility in all three cases. The defense accepted the legal classification proposed by the prosecution, the sentence imposed and the decision to shorten the trial proceedings.
