Néstor Kirchner gas pipeline: the Tratayén compressor plant in Vaca Muerta is now ready

The construction company Sacde reported having reached the mechanical completion of the compressor plant inTrayén, on Vaca Muerta. The installation is one of the two required by the Néstor Kirchner Gasduct to increase its transport capacity. The work was completed in line with the contractual deadlines, the company said.

In the next weeks commissioning and necessary tests will be carried outwhich will be managed by the state-owned Energía Argentina SA (Enarsa). “For it to begin operations, the 15,000 HP turbocharger must be put into operation by Enarsa and its manufacturer, for which the construction company will provide support,” they said in a statement.

The president and CEO of Sacde, Damián Mindlin, stated that “once operational, theTrayén Compressor Plant will allow the injection of approximately 5 million additional m3 of gas to the Néstor Kirchner Gas Pipeline. For the country, this represents “savings of up to US$350 million per year in the replacement of liquid fuels and the import of LNG,” he said.

With its launch, plus the one that is being completed in Salliqueló, Buenos Aires, the first stage of the project will end. «Its complete design provides for the total installation of three additional compressor plantswhich will add a total power of 120,000 HP, to transport a maximum future flow of up to 40MMSm3/d,” the company explained.

The work required a basic investment of $19,926 million, equivalent to US$ 121.5 million, according to the offer presented by Sacde. According to information from Enarsa, its commissioning is scheduled for July 9, as it is coordinated with Transportadora Gas del Sur (TGS) to allow gas to enter the system.

TheTrayén Compressor Plant is located in the heart of Vaca Muerta, in Neuquén. It will allow the gas received from the TGS Gas Conditioning Plant to be compressed and injected into the Presidente Néstor Kirchner Gas Pipeline, increasing the volume transported from 11 to 16 million m3 per day.

As for the Salliqueló plant, which is being built by the Contreras – Esuco Transitional Business Union (UTE), it had a basic amount of $16,706 million, which is equivalent to US$102.0 million. According to Enarsa data, It should be ready by the end of July, while its commissioning will be on August 30.
