Santiago de Cali, June 28, 2024

Through a program called Generating Network Research for Learning, known as the Gira Network, 40 teachers from different Official Educational Institutions of Cali – IEO – work with the purpose of transforming the city’s education by generating research and educational evolution in Cali .

The Gira Network is an educational research initiative that has been working for seven years with the commitment to provide the Ministry of Education with projects that help improve contextualized education in the IEOs, knowing the territory and contributing from the teaching work to all the changes and mutations that education needs from the establishments of origin based on technology, research and science.

Mónica López Castro, undersecretary of Educational Quality of the city, explained how Red Gira itself has evolved in its work. “A few years ago, the Gira Network was established by nodes and each node managed a specific area, however, with the needs that the 21st century has brought us, the teachers that make it up organized four lines that are innovation and technology, territory and governance, community and leadership and transformation, as required by education in the city.”

“The Gira Network is made up of about 40 teachers who actively participate in training sessions in research and writing articles, monthly or three-weekly meetings to share progress and establish new research routes, events to socialize pedagogical experiences at the local level. , national and international,” said Professor Giovanni Rizo, leader of the Gira Network.

This project is an example of how research can be a powerful tool for educational transformation, through the collaborative work of teachers, the Gira Network is contributing to building a more contextualized, relevant and meaningful education for the students of Cali.
