There are people who simply can’t turn the page. Since its premiere in 1997 and the phenomenon it was at the global box office, ‘Titanic’ has been one of those films that have never left the collective imagination. In other words, a classic we return to again and again.

And one of the reasons why, 27 years later, we return to James Cameron’s film is to engage in the recurring debate about the ending: Did Leonardo DiCaprio fit in the table or not?

Two years ago, on the film’s 25th anniversary, the director himself settled the matter after a long time defending the outcome and admitted that Jack could have survived, a conclusion he reached after conducting several scientific studies for a National Geographic documentary.

And now, someone else will be able to see it first-hand, because the board where the iconic scene takes place is in the hands of a lucky person who has gotten hold of it. The actual door used in the film has been sold at an auction hosted by Planet Hollywood, and according to Entertainment Weekly, the winner has paid more than $700,000 (to be exact, $718,750).

The person, of course, remains anonymous, but if he is a film collector, let’s say that You have already found one of the star pieces of your collectioneven if it is “just” an aged piece of wood.

What other objects were auctioned?

In the same auction, called Treasures From Planet Hollywood Auction, other legendary film objects have also been sold, such as Indiana Jones’ whip in ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ or the billiard ball with the rose inside of Bill Murray in ‘What a pair of idiots’.
