Marvel reveals Magneto’s new look in the X-Men revival and there are surprises

The era of Krakoa is about to end in Marvel comics. With its pluses and minuses, it is one of the most criticized stages of the mutants that has divided the regular readers of the mutants and the House of Ideas. Being the series of ‘X-Men 97‘in full development on Disney+, the company has set the launch of three new X-Men lines for this summer. One of them, the main one, have such emblematic characters as Cyclops, Beast, Magik or Juggernaut, but of course also with Magneto, the Lord of Magnetism. In the new published cover of the first chapter by Tony Daniel, what the eternal friend and rival of Charles Xavier will look like has been revealed in detail.

Magneto reveals his appearance in the new Marvel comics and it is confirmed that he could have a role similar to that of the ‘X-Men 97’ series

The cover of the opening chapter of the series written by Jed MacKay and drawn by Ryan Stegman, by the aforementioned Daniel, shows the protagonists in the foreground with Magneto as the main course. Previously, the character’s face was hidden by a peculiar play of shadows, but here we can already see the character in all his splendor. As you can see, The Lord of Magnetism looks a little older with a very pronounced white beard and mustache, sporting his usual colors combining purple with red.. That aspect, more veteran, could indicate that Magneto will have a mentor role for the X-Men on this occasion, taking over from Charles Xavier, with a tone very similar to what we can see in ‘X-Men 97‘ on Disney+. It would not be surprising if there were extreme similarities between both products considering that Kevin Feige also handles Marvel comics, and in the past he modified Kamala Khan so that the comics character was in tune with that of the MCU.

Magneto looks more veteran than ever in this new series.

“The X-Men rise from their new base in Alaska. Join Cyclops, Beast, Magneto, Psylocke, Kid Omega, Temper (formerly OYA), Magik and Juggernaut as they rally against new forces, fighting for destiny and philosophy of the mutant species”, reads the official synopsis of this new line of comics that arrive in bookstores in the United States in summer (in Spain, as always, we will have to wait a little longer for its launch).

Tom Brevoort, vice executive editor of Marvel Comics, made a statement to talk about this resurrection of the mutants that is underway at the House of Ideas: “The X-Men are fractured after the end of Krakoa, scattered across the world without a central base of operations.” he commented. “What that means in practice is that the three titles that bear the name X-Men are core X-Men series: they all focus on one of the most important aspects of what the team has been in different points. This is largely by design. We want to offer a wide variety of X titles with different styles, tones and approaches“, an X-Men comic for practically every taste.”
