In a brief interview with the American media TheWrap, the filmmaker revealed that, although there is no written script, he has clear concepts that he wants to include in the plot, focusing on Peter Parker’s personal evolution as the central theme of the story.
“I think if we were to make a fourth Spider-Man movie, we would have to figure out the journey that Tobey Maguire’s character would be on and what obstacles he would have to overcome to achieve that personal growth. And I hope that the villain was chosen based on a representation of that obstacle.”
Given the time that has passed since the third installment, Sam Raimi seems to have preferred to opt for a more personal approach focused on an introspective journey through the life of Peter Parker instead of focusing on spectacular fights and gigantic enemies.
The pressure of being a hero, the challenges of everyday life, and the hard work of risking your life almost daily for nothing in return are themes that have defined Spider-Man. Villains like Chameleon or even Kingpin could be interesting in this personal journey of Spider-Man. However, it is not known if this film will finally be made, but it is always good to dream.
