After the success of the film nahira documentary about Nahir Galarza was released, Nahir Galarza: the secret of a crime.
The project shows interviews in prison, unpublished images and unique testimonies. In addition, it reflects how the 25-year-old, who became the youngest woman to be sentenced to life imprisonment in Argentina, currently lives.
According to its director, “it reveals a secret that viewers will understand.”
The documentary was made over the course of a year and was produced by Kapow. It is directed by Alejandro Hartmann, who was also behind Carmel: who killed María Marta about the García Belsunce case, and Tatiana Mereñuk, screenwriter of The photographer and the postmana work about José Luis Cabezas, which Hartmann also directed.
“We see a Nahir who grew up in prison, who does not live in her family environment, but in a private one. The documentary is two episodes, almost an hour long, the first tells you about the case until the trial, with a lot of information, with many testimonies, and the second breaks with everything that is known about the case. It is an episode that gets into Nahir’s psychology. The first one is shocking, but the second one you can’t believe.” Nicolás Chausovsky, executive producer of the series, commented in a talk with Teleshow.
“I am Nahir Galarza. I am 24 years old and I am from Gualeguaychú and, well, now I am in Paraná.” This is how Nahir is presented in the two-chapter documentary series that premiered this week.
The young woman from Entre Ríos had only given an interview six years ago with Mariana Fabbiani on her program.
After years of silence, Nahir once again gave his word for Hartmann and Mereñuk’s documentary. “Here, the directors interviewed her twice, almost four hours each day. We also had visits to the prison and telephone conversations. She is a never-before-seen Nahir who says things she had never said before,” said the producer.
In the documentary you can see interviews with Nahir’s parents and also with Fernando’s mother, Silvia. The idea is to show both versions and give identity to Fernando.
“In 2017, Nahir Galarza became the most famous murderer in Argentina after shooting her boyfriend. Angel or demon? The story of a crime and the secrets hidden behind it,” says the official synopsis of the documentary, which can now be enjoyed on Amazon Prime Video and has two chapters.
