According to results released once 85.8 percent of the votes had been counted, the representative of the National Rally (far-right), Jordan Bardella, was ahead with 31.5 percent of the votes over the candidate for the ruling Renaissance, Valérie Hayer. , with 14.5 percent, and Raphaël Glucksmann (Socialist Party/Public Square), with 14 percent.

This result guaranteed that, of the 81 MEPs in the running, the National Group would win 30 seats compared to the 14 that Renacimiento would obtain. Other political forces were located next.

After these results were announced, the president sent a message to the nation and expressed: “I could not continue, at the end of this day, looking the other way (…) I decided to return the word of our future parliamentarian through the vote.”

He warned that “the rise of nationalists, of demagogues, is a danger for our nation, but also for our Europe and for France’s place in Europe and in the world.”

Early legislative elections will be held on June 30 and July 7 (if a second round is necessary). Macron considered this a serious and difficult decision, but he sees it as an act of trust.

After this message, the leader of the French extreme right, Merine Le Pen, stated that the National Rally is ready to exercise power.

In Glucksmann’s opinion, the dissolution of the National Assembly represents an extremely dangerous game. He added that “the presidential majority and the President of the Republic himself have shown themselves to be completely incapable – and this afternoon’s decision has demonstrated it once again – of facing their historical responsibility.”

The leader of La Francia Insumisa, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, assured that his party is not afraid of the people and that the call for elections opens the opportunity to reaffirm confidence in the popular vote.

Through Furthermore, he questioned what legitimacy he has to deny Palestinians the means to survive.
