Havana.- THE TEAM of Cuba will play today against the United States in one of the semifinals of the Norceca U-21 Men’s Continental Volleyball Championship, thanks to its sweep over the representative of Suriname in its most recent presentation.
In the Mexican city of Nogales, Lian Sem Estrada’s disciples showed themselves superior to their rivals to subdue them with partial scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 25-22.
Once again the opposite Daniel Guillermo Martínez emerged as the top scorer of the match after rounding off a harvest of 19 points, distributed in 13 attacks, two on the block and four from the service line.
Kelly Bryan Oviedo contributed 11 points to the winning cause – all with shots – to complete the list of players with double digits in the duel. On the other side of the net, the most notable was Meson Anakaba, author of nine cartoons.
The duel against the Americans for the title challenge appears to be a complex challenge, taking into account the power shown by the northerners that allowed them to dominate group B undefeated and advance directly to the semifinal.
The other clash in that instance will be between Canada, the unbeatable leader of key A, and Puerto Rico, which achieved its advance thanks to the victory in the quarterfinals over the Mexican squad in four sets (25-21, 21-25, 25 -21 and 25-22).
The definition of the medalists and remaining positions in the tournament is scheduled for this Sunday, with qualifying value for the universal competition of the category that will be held next year.
