The Cuban diver Anisley García received confirmation this Tuesday that she will be one of the contestants in the individual platform event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Havana woman was waiting for the decision of World Aquatics, the governing body of that sport in the world, which had to define the allocation of quotas based on the rankings of each modality, according to a note published on the sports portal Hit.

A few days ago Anisley had been left out of the distribution of places on the springboard from three meters. Prisis Leydis Ruiz from Santiago achieved classification, largely thanks to her performance in the most recent universal competition, in which she was a semi-finalist.
“It is a dream come true, something that I have longed for since I started in the sport,” the diver, queen of the specialty in the Central Caribbean events of Barranquilla 2018 and San Salvador 2023, told the media.
Anisley and Prisis plan to appear in the next few days at the Bolzano 2024 Diving Meeting, in Italy, as part of their preparation for the contest under the five rings, the publication states.

Anisley’s classification brings to 47 the number of members of the delegation that will represent Cuba in the Parisian event, and which will have as its standard bearers the wrestler Mijaín López and the judoka Idalys Ortiz.
In addition, it represents the island’s return to the Olympic diving competitions, after the absences recorded in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020 editions.
The last incursion occurred in the London 2012 competition. Cubans José Antonio Guerra and Jeinkler Aguirre finished fifth in the synchronized platform.
