Alejandro G. Vigo and Ramón Rodríguez will maintain a dialogue about the concept of diagnosis and the Faculty of Judgment based on Wolfgang Wieland’s research dedicated to medicine conceived as a practical science. The reflections will focus on the consideration that, although medicine largely uses the of the theoretical sciences, it is not a theoretical science but practical, which although it is not aimed at the justification of propositions but of actions, does not allow, however, abrupt changes and modifications of its fundamental concepts. This raises a fundamental issue that is that of the diagnosis: are they to find, deduce and base what is understood as a diagnosis or to agree and establish a convention on the most relevant rules for the use of the term diagnosis?
