The Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, has condemned the last attacks launched by the Israel Defense forces (FDI) on Syria since they represent “a violation of sovereignty”, in full climb of sectarian violence between the Drusa community and militias related to the current Syrian authorities.
“It is essential that these attacks cease and that Israel respects sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and independence of Syria,” Guterres claimed through its spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, hours after the Israeli executive recognized a bombing in the vicinity of the Damascus presidential palace.
The Israel authorities justify this new offensive appealing to the protection of the Drusa minority in Syria, after some clashes that Guterres also follows “with alarm.” The head of the UN has expressed concern about any act that can encourage sectarian violence and has urged all parties to act with “maximum containment.”
Guterres has recognized internal efforts to contain the climb and “maintain security and stability”, so it also takes note of the messages of the Ahmed al Shara government in favor of the dialogue. United Nations expects provisional authorities to investigate “transparency” any possible abuse.
