A summary of the famous ‘April to live’, with the winners of this XXIV edition.
The newly finished month is forever the name of Carlos Cano (and more after Sabina was stolen!). For his immortal song and for the contest ‘April to live’, which perpetuates his memory with the international author song contest that bears his name. This year there have been a hundred authors of several continents, of which, in the final the faces and voices were selected: Enma Cadenas, Ernesto Fabián, Ulil Antúnez, which would be winner Sandra Bautista, and the following classified, Quique Montero and Santi Bernal.

From Martorell (1995) Sandra Bautista is a primaria teacher and part in her songs of traditional folklore genres, both Hispanic and American, calling attention her delicate voice. It has been heard, first with the model that made it known in 2017 ‘La Casa de Les thousand smells’, and later already the ‘Trapezista’ album, with which he has won numerous other competitions. In February 2024, ‘intuit the tiger’, an eclectic, multilingual (Castilian, Catalan and Portuguese) oscillating between pop, Latin American folk, Brazilian music, electronics and mediterranean music. At the end of the year he published the song ‘And if a general returns’, with a video clip in which 60 artists such as Rozalén, Ismael Serrano, the Kanka, María Peláe, Pepón Nieto or the crumbs appear.
The director of the exhibition Juan Trova said that in this year’s edition “the level has risen and also the number of registered, exceeding the hundred after the fall after the covid.” For him “the issue of parity is interesting, which has not been sought, but more and more women are presented,” highlighting the rest concert “for its very brave proposal, taking ‘the Odyssey’ to make a rock suite with a very worked staging, which will be completed when the visuals they are doing in the Faculty of Fine Arts end.”
Two other special nights were the concert ‘Voices of Author’ of the Manuel de Falla University Choir, and the premiere of the album ‘Tierra’ of the Garabato man, “which from the perspective of rock have shown us a very different Carlos Cano,” concludes Trova.
