Horacio Zeballos and Marcel Granollers (8th and 9th in the ATP ranking respectively) They were one step away from the grand final of the Miami Open 2024. The Spanish-Argentine duo lost in the semi-finals against Matthew Ebden and Rohan Bopannafavorites of the table, 6-1 and 6-4 after 53 minutes of play.
Zeballos and Granollers, fourth seeds in the Miami Masters 1000, landed in the semifinals with performances over Fabien Reboul and Sadio Doumbia (3-6, 6-3 and 10-5), Mate Pavic and Marcelo Arévalo (7-5, 6 -3), Lloyd Glasspool and Jean-Julien Rojer (7-6, 3-6 and 12-10).
In this way, they placed themselves among the top four in a tournament of that category for the second consecutive time after the definition they played in Indian Wells days ago.
In the Californian desert they lost in the fight for the title with Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic. On this occasion, they could not repeat the case because along the way the top candidates of the contest crossed paths: Ebden and Bopanna (3rd and 2nd).
The conclusion of the Miami Open will be starring the Australian and the Indian against Ivan Dodig of Croatia and Austin Krajicek in a match of the first against the second favorites.
