Italy will have five teams in the 2024-25 Champions League… and Germany is close to it

ANDa is official. Italy will have five teams in the next edition of the UEFA Champions League. In 2024-25 with the format expanded to 36 clubs. The confirmation came after the second leg matches of the European and Conference quarterfinals. Serie A has improved in UEFA coefficient (in all three competitions it is counted) than the rest of the Federations: Germany and England are fighting for the other extra place available.

And this season two of the four additional places, compared to the current 32, will be assigned to the two Federations that have obtained the best ‘performance’ ranking in the 2023/24 season. Serie A, which has not had any team in the Champions League quarterfinals this year, has achieved it through the Europa League and the Conference, where it has three representatives in the semifinals.

Right now, therefore, Inter, Milan, Juventus, Bologna and Rome will qualify. But if Atalanta or Roma win the Europa League and are left out of the TOP-5 of Serie A… Italy will have six teams in the 2024-25 Champions League!

  • Italy – 19,429 points (an additional place in the Champions League)
  • Germany – 17,929 points (an additional place in the Champions League at the moment)
  • England – 17,375 points
  • France – 15,917 points
  • Spain – 15,313 points

Germany vs England

Meanwhile, the Bundesliga is one step away. The Germans barely need to add two victories (among the three surviving clubs: Dortmund, Bayern and Leverkusen) to ensure it. If not, Aston Villa, the only team left in the Premier League, will have to win the Conference with three wins in three games.
