Alexa Guarachi surprised everyone by announcing her retirement from professional tennis. The former 11th in the world in doubles, born in the United States and nationalized Chilean in 2015, thus closes a brilliant career in the specialty, which places her as the most successful Chilean tennis player of this century.

At 33 years oldGuarachi managed to be a finalist at Roland Garros in 2020, quarterfinals at Wimbledon and semifinals at the US Open. He also won a gold medal with Nicolás Jarry at the 2019 Lima Pan American Games, and was very close to going to the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The now former tennis player did not take long to announce her next step. “I am the new director of tennis and pickleball at Watersound Club. “I was born and raised in the area and I am a retired tennis player,” she introduced herself in a video on social media, along with her greatest achievements.

“I’ve played against people you probably know if you follow tennis. I have played against Serena Williams, Andy Murray, Aryna Sabalenka and Ons Jabeur just to name a few. Here at Camp Creek I will be the director, so I will be in charge of many different events. I will also be trying to do clinics and help grow the tennis and pickeball community here. If you are interested in any clinic or even classes with me, please don’t be afraid to call me,” she added.

Guarachi had not competed since September 2023, when he was part of the Guadalajara Open. She was then present in Santiago 2023, however, she was eliminated in doubles with Fernanda Labraña. There she closed a notable career that she began a decade earlier at the University of Alabama and where she was the fourth best ranked in the United States.
