BALTIMORE — Brent Rooker hit a double to drive in the tiebreaking run in the 10th inning and lead a late comeback that led the Oakland Athletics to a 3-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday.
After Oakland rallied from a 2-1 deficit by tying it in the ninth against Orioles closer Craig Kimbrel, Rooker put the A’s ahead by hitting a two-out liner to left field off Jacob Webb (0-1). 1).
Mitch Spence (2-1) pitched the ninth inning and Mason Miller got the final three outs for his seventh save. After Miller struck out Gunnar Henderson with a 101.8 mph fastball with a runner on third to end it, the right-hander celebrated by pumping his fist in the air.
Shea Langeliers homered and scored in the tenth for the A’s, now 2-15 when trailing in the eighth inning.
In the ninth for Oakland, Abraham Toro tied the score with a double before JJ Bleday was surprised by Kimbrel trying to score on a wild pitch.
For the Athletics, Dominican Esteury Ruiz and Puerto Rican Darell Hernaiz went 0 for 3.
For the Orioles, Venezuelan Anthony Santander is 4-1. Mexican Ramón Urías 3-0.
