PHOENIX — Wilmer Flores’ grand slam highlighted a six-run explosion in the third inning and the San Francisco Giants ended a six-game losing streak with a 9-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Heliot Ramos added a two-run homer in the third against Jordan Montgomery (3-4), whose ERA rose to 6.80 in his ninth start since signing with the Diamondbacks at the end of spring training.

Ramos reached base six times with two hits and four walks. Flores, who had one home run in 50 games before Wednesday, added a sacrifice fly in the ninth for his fifth run and Cuban Jorge Soler homered in the eighth against Brandon Hughes to move the Giants into third place in the NL West, half a game ahead of the Diamondbacks.

Hjelle (3-1) worked one and a third innings and scored the victory.

For the Giants, Venezuelans Thairo Estrada was 3-for-6 with one run scored and one RBI and Wilmer Flores was 2-for-4 with one run scored and five RBIs. Puerto Rican Heliot Ramos is 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Cuban Jorge Soler was 2-for-6 with two runs scored and one RBI.

For the Diamondbacks, Cuban Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
