The German driver could not get past Q1 and ended up finishing in 19th position, which represented a big negative difference compared to his previous classifications this year.

Nico Hulkenberg and teammate Kevin Magnussen opted for wet tires and moved into the top 10 in the first eight laps of Sunday’s race, although both eventually fell back as conditions improved.

But Hulkenberg said: “The missed opportunity was yesterday [el sábado] and in general the whole weekend”.

“The problem we’ve had with my car is that somehow it’s not quite right, I think, on the aero side or somewhere. I still feel after the race that I have a problem, that it’s not totally 100%. where we’re supposed to be. But you know, obviously, you do what you can with what you have.”

“But, obviously, also not being able to ride on Friday, not having time to react after… it’s just a combination of things in a weekend complicated by the circumstances,” he explained.

Talking about the need to carry out a review of the problems to find a solution before the next Spanish GPHulkenberg said: “The whole weekend, especially on my side of the pit, even from the first lap, I didn’t feel comfortable with the car and we have to investigate what was happening because that really compromised our weekend.”

“Everything that happened, and then the classification, made it difficult for us to have been able to get a better result because I am sure that with a better classification, if we came out later, we would have added quite a few points. So it is a kind of missed opportunity,” concluded the German Formula 1 driver.
