Colombia National Team announces the final decision with Linda Caicedo for the U-20 Women’s World Cup

The first edition of the U-20 Women’s World Cup, in which 24 teams will participate, will be held in Colombia.

The women’s tournament will take place from August 31 to September 22. There will be a total of 52 games in four stadiums in three host cities: Bogotá, Cali and Medellín.

The coffee team shares Group A with Colombia, Australia, Cameroon and Mexico. The big doubt for the contest was the presence of Linda Caicedo, women’s soccer star.

The Real Madrid player recently visited Colombia and confirmed that it was not up to her to be in the U-20 team for the World Cup of the category. Clubs are not obliged to lend their players to competitions of this type. However, the champion with Cali and América has always been willing to wear the tricolor and lift the youth title.

“Let’s hope so, I really want it, it would be the last in my category, in my country, the first World Cup to be held here. I imagine it’s going to be crazy. I hope to be here, it doesn’t depend on me 100%, but I have all the willingness, the desire to be with my team and my people, enjoying this World Cup,” Linda told Caracol Radio journalist Salomé Fajardo.

However, the expectation of his presence or not in the U-20 World Cup ended. Carlos Paniagua, team coach, confirmed that Linda will be in the World Cup. He spoke about the management that was carried out by the Colombian Football Federation.

Paniagua confirmed that Linda herself was “pressuring” to be in the eleventh of her country.

“I thought it was a great gesture for Linda Caicedo to call and ask questions. She has insisted that I be here, to represent the country, to say goodbye to her friends and colleagues with whom she grew up and trained in a World Cup,” said Paniagua.

With the confirmation of Linda Caicedo in the World Cup team, it remains to know the decision with Ana María ‘la Mona’ Guzmán
