Marine Farm’s Capeahuapi center wins the award for Best FCR in the Coho category

This achievement by the national salmon farmer, according to BioMar’s Farmers of the Year 2023, “is even more notable considering the challenging conditions the farming site experienced.”

Last Friday, BioMar recognized the productive excellence of Marine Farm’s Capeahuapi center, which achieved the best FCR (feed conversion rate) in the Coho category of the Farmers of the Year 2023.

The award ceremony was held in a relaxed atmosphere, with the presence of all members of the Capeahuapi center, as well as executives from Marine Farm and BioMar.

Gabriela Heim, Commercial Manager of BioMar Chile, gave a warm welcome, followed by a few words from Roberto Riethmüller, General Manager of Marine Farm, who expressed his gratitude, highlighting the commitment, effort and dedicated work of the entire Marine Farm team.

This achievement is even more notable considering the challenging conditions the center experienced. In turn, Claudio Delgado, head of the center, commented: “The center was planted in May 2023 and harvested in February 2024. Despite adverse environmental conditions, such as HAB and low oxygen levels, teamwork “, the experience of the members, the application of best practices and the use of BioMar diets and functional strategies, allowed us to obtain excellent productive results and a high-quality final product.”

From the point of view of food and nutrition, Michael Adler, Technical Director of BioMar Chile, highlights the optimal use of diets and functional strategies that the center carried out throughout the production cycle, with products such as Assist Skin and Assist Jaundice. Assist Skin is specially designed to ensure good skin health, promoting animal well-being, reducing the risk of infection and disease, along with achieving excellent skin quality, a very important attribute in the case of cohos.

While, Assist Jaundice is specifically formulated to prevent and reduce the impact of HSMI in coho salmon: it strengthens the fish’s immune system, modulates inflammation, controls oxidative stress, while protecting and recovering the fish’s cardiovascular and liver function. . Thanks to these nutritional strategies and the great work carried out, the Capeahuapi team managed to prevent and control health challenges, which in turn guaranteed excellent productive results and a high-quality final product.

Marine Farm’s Capeahuapi center stands out for its productive excellence and for being at the forefront in the production of coho salmon.

Thus, the farming center’s team obtained BAP (Best Aquaculture Practices) certification in November of last year, validating its high quality standards and its concern for the environment, animal welfare and local communities.
