Recently, AG Data experts have detected a fake Android application that impersonates the browser Google Chromereplicating its appearance. And although when used at first it seems to work correctly, specialists have detected that it can be dangerous.

As a result, after installation, the application automatically collects passwords, login details and browsing history. Furthermore, it can even access the microphone and camera, allowing cybercriminals to monitor user activity in real time.

But that is not all. Experts have discovered that all this data they collect end up on servers in Russia.

Google has already been informed about this incident and assures that measures have been taken to remove the fake app.

Apparently, those who installed this application, which is available for Android mobile phones, did so through unofficial sources. Therefore, to avoid this type of theft of personal information, the recommendation of cybersecurity experts at only install applications through official sites like Google Play Store.
