It’s been in the oven for a while, but the new Fable seems to have already reached the perfect point. The game has looked its most solid at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, where it has delighted those present with a new trailer in which it has even allowed itself the luxury of confirming launch window: 2025.

This delivery will mark our return to Albion more eight years later from the last visit and will come from Playground Games, not Lionhead Studio (rest in peace). The creators of the Forza Horizon saga go from driving to RPG with a daring swerve which, however, and seeing the trailers we have so far, seems to have turned out wonderfully.

The Playground Fable preserves the particular sense of humor of the series, uses graphics and mixes the most mundane of the Middle Ages with the beauty and fantasy of fairy tales. Goblins, mud, dream landscapes, sexual jokes, beings from another world, blood and betrayal. All in all, a simply great combo.

The curse of the Fable saga

The most veterans in the Xbox universe will remember a time when Microsoft did not have Halo, Gears and Forza as a great trident, but to Halo, Gears and Fable. That was the level of importance of the British franchise, which also catapulted Peter Molyneux and Lionhead Studios. However, since Fable 3 (released in 2010), the saga began to explode in an exaggerated way and lost its helmsman. Molyneux left, Lionhead closed and the result was a few dark years in which the brand seemed cursed and each delivery doomed to failure.

His resurrection would be great and great news for RPG fans on Xbox. It would also demonstrate that Playground is one of the company’s fittest studios, a King Midas who turns everything he touches to gold. We certainly couldn’t be more excited to visit this version of Albion.
