Where to find all Fallout 4 shelters

Vaults are essential parts of Fallout stories, and in Fallout 4 we have a few that you can find all over the map.

Some of these shelters are part of the main story, so they are unmissable, but curiously most of them are not, and if you don’t find them, you will miss a lot of narrative, rewards and even secret missions.

Let’s help you find all the shelters that exist in Fallout 4even new ones that were later included in the expansions.

We will also tell you the history of each of them and what you can find inside.

Where to find all Fallout 4 shelters

We have five shelters in the base game and two others that were added with the theme of the expansions.

Vault 111

It is the refuge of our main character, and it is the place where he went with his entire family to protect themselves from nuclear bombs.

However, the shelter was itself a site for cryopreservation experiments, so our character was frozen for years.

That is until a mercenary arrived and kidnapped the player’s son, killed his wife and the rest of the members of the shelter, and we promised to hunt him down.

It is located northwest of Sanctuary, up the hill.

Vault 75

This shelter became a place of torture, and its staff executed the adult inhabitants and left only the children alive to experiment on them. Nothing went right, and everyone died.

If you go to this shelter it will be occupied by gang members.

To find it you must go southeast from Lake Quannapowitt until you find the location known as Malden Middle School, and you must go to the basement of the school to see the open door of the shelter.

Vault 81

It was a shelter meant to research horrible diseases, and to do so it was intended to infect people against their will.

Luckily, the original supervisor of the shelter locked up the team destined to carry out this cruelty, and turned it into a place that is still fully active even today.

You can find Vault 81 by going southeast from Fort Hagen, north of the Coast Guard Pier, although you will need to pass a few tests and have a number of items to enter.

Vault 95

It was created with members who had to overcome their addictions to different illegal substances.

Curiously, they managed to overcome these additions, but things went wrong later on, they went crazy and killed each other. When we get to this area, there will be another gang, specifically, the artillerymen.

It is located next to a cliff, northwest of Capsized Factory.

Vault 114

It was intended to store rich people, but who then had to start living as poor people, in a kind of social experiment.

However, the inhabitants escaped halfway through the shelter experiment. You are going to find members of another gang and you find it near Goodneighbor.

From this area travel southwest, enter the Park Street Station and descend into the depths to find the path that leads to Vault 114.

Vault 118

It comes as part of the Far Harbor expansion, and was designed to pit the super-rich against members of the working-class population. Things didn’t work out, and you’ll find this shelter under the Cliff’s Edge Hotel, which is located east of the national park headquarters.

Vault 88

The Vault-Tec Workshop expansion was originally intended to test prototypes with a view to then shipping them to other vaults.

However, the bombs began to fall and the shelter did not have time to be completed.

You can find it in a small cave beneath Quincy Quarries, which is located southeast of Hyde Park.

As you can see, they are essential places with very interesting stories and that you must visit.
