A Delhi-based dentist has said she would boycott Uber India after meeting with an accident and getting injured. Dr Ruchika claimed she met with the accident on Saturday during an Uber ride from her home to the nearby metro station.

In a long thread on X, she also claimed the driver’s rash driving caused the accident. “I am boycotting @Uber_India. It has become unsafe to travel with them now as drivers without Driving License or experience are on the roads, without taking any safety measures & care for the passengers. I met with an ACCIDENT yesterday,” she posted.

Ruchika alleged the driver missed a cut and tried to take a U-turn without turning on the indicator. “He didn’t even try to see back on the mirror to check if there is any vehicle coming,” she added.

Sharing about her injury, Ruchika said she had been put on heavy medications and advised bed rest for five days. “I am bearing all the losses, be it financially, physically or emotionally,” she wrote.

Uber India responded to Ruchika’s post, asking her to share her contact details. “This rather sounds frightening and we hope you and the driver are safe, Ruchika. Please share the registered contact details from which this trip was booked via DM. Our safety team will be in touch with you shortly,” the cab company wrote.

Festive offer

Ruchika requested Uber to verify drivers before appointing them. In response, Uber said it has raised the issue with its team.

Last week, a Delhi man accused an Uber driver of harassing his wife by asking her to pay extra for just a kilometer into the ride.
