EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Police believe the 43-year-old man who was stabbed to death in a public bus on Thursday, was attacked after he tried to intervene in a couple’s argument.

According to the El Paso Police Department, at around 6 pm, the 43-year-old man tried to step into a verbal argument between a man and a woman, when the man pulled out a knife and stabbed him.

Police believe the suspect then stepped off the bus at 1630 Texas Avenue in southcentral El Paso and ran away.

The 43-year-old man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are not releasing the identity of the victim as they are awaiting to notify their next of kin.

Police don’t know the suspect’s identity and are asking anyone with information on the incident to call the police’s non-emergency number 915-832-4400 or Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477 if they wish to remain anonymous.
