Panchkula: a special IWC court in Haryana‘s Panchkula announced a death sentence to four individuals convicted in the 2016 Nuh gangrapes and double murder case. The court found Hemat Chouhan, Ayan Chauhan, Vinay, and Jai Bhagwan guilty of double murder, gang rape, and dacoity and pronounced the sentence on Saturday. Along with the death sentence, the court imposed a total fine of ₹8.20 lakh on the convicted individuals.

The incident took place on the night of August 24-25 in Haryana’s Nuh Mewat district in Dingerhedi village. Subsequently, an FIR was registered under Section 459, 460, 376-D, 396, 397 of IPC, Section 6 of POCSO Act, 2012, and Section 25, 54, 59 of Arms Act, 1959 alleging that a group of four-five people entered the victim’s house at midnight and attacked them using a lathi, iron road, and hand pistol gun. They were found guilty The accused were found guilty of raping a woman and a minor girl in their home and also looted their ornament and cash found in their possession. The brutal attack resulted in the deaths of one of the victims and his wife, while others sustained serious injuries.

Initially, Haryana Police had filed a charge sheet against a different group of accused persons. However, the CBI took over the investigation following a reference from the state government. The investigation agency conducted a thorough probe, collecting and analyzing scientific and forensic evidence, and filed two charge sheets against the convicted individuals on January 24, 2018, and January 29, 2019.
