Man arrested in connection to 2022 attack on teen in Gilbert

GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — A man has been taken into custody in connection to a 2022 assault in Gilbert, authorities say.

On Friday, Gilbert police announced that 19-year-old Clayton Oden was arrested for his alleged involvement in a previous teen violence incident. The attack happened on Oct. 2022 near Guadalupe and Freestone Parkway, east of Lindsay Road, but it wasn’t reported to the department until Dec. 26, 2023.

Authorities say the victim who was attacked was initially unknown. Throughout the investigation, detectives recently identified and spoke with the victim, which led them to arrest Oden.

Gilbert police previously released photos of the attack, showing two suspects hitting and kicking a boy on a sidewalk.

Oden was booked on charges of disorderly conduct and assault.
